Rail Operators

The only Amtrak services in Arizona are long-distance trains: the Sunset Limited (New Orleans - Los Angeles), and the Southwest Chief (Chicago - Los Angeles).

Grand Canyon Railway

The Grand Canyon Railway has a single main line, from Williams northwards to Grand Canyon. The passenger service is oriented to tourism, usually consisting of one return trip from Williams to Grand Canyon each day.

Metro and light rail systems

Phoenix

Valley Metro operates public transport in the Phoenix area, including two rail services. Both are modern light-rail lines:

  • Valley Metro Rail: a largely segregated line linking Phoenix and Tempe
  • Streetcar Line: an on-street line in central Tempe
