Recent Changes

Tren Maya (Tsiímin K'aák) was officially opened on 15 December 2023 with public services San Francisco de [S.F.] Campeche - Cancún on 16 December 2023. Tickets are on sale at Tren Maya e-tickets for Cancún - Merida and other trips on the S.F. Campeche - Cancún section between 16 and 23 December 2023.

Future Changes

The 1,525 km (948 mile) Tren Maya (Tsiímin K'aák), serving the Yucatan peninsula, is opening in stages from 15 December 2023. Construction began in June 2020.
The railway will run from Palenque in Chiapas state northeast towards the major tourist destination of Cancún in Quintana Roo state. There are two routes, encircling the peninsula along its north and east coasts. It aims to connect tourist destinations in the Caribbean with lesser-known sites inland, including historic Mayan sites from which it derives its name.
Eventually it will serve 34 stations.

Further planned opening dates for Tren Maya lines are:

  • Palenque - S.F. Campeche (- Cancún) - 31 December 2023
  • Cancún - Tulum - 121 km - 31 January 2024
  • Tulum - Escárcega - 541 km - February 2024
