Note: the railway in Ecuador became bankrupt in 2020 and ceased operating with their assets being transferred to the Ecuadorian State. . Money is being raised to restart operations, hopefully in 2023.

Recent Changes
The Quito Metro official inauguration was on 21 December 2022 and commercial service started on 2 May 2023. The system was shut down on 11 May 2023, after technical problems but commercial operations resumed on 1 December 2023.
Future Changes
The Quito Metro re-opened 1 December 2023 with full operation expected in the second quarter of 2024.
The Government aims to reopen six sections of main line railways for tourism purposes in 2023.
