No regular service, but this branch is used by through trains from Saigon either side and during the Tet Vietnamese New Year holidays. In 2025 Tet was from 25 January to 1 February and the VNR website advised ticket purchase was possible from 20 October 2024 on one pair train numbers SE29 & SE30 but the running days quoted here are not clear, saying three periods, but only listing two start/finish dates.

[Hà Nội -] - Yến Viến - Lào Cai VN3

Two pairs daily but all but one southbound service run overnight

Hà Nội - Long Biên VN4

There are a number of busy level and foot crossings, plus the northern "train street" on this section so use on Monday to Friday's is restricted compared to weekends. SSuX most daytime services terminate at/start from the single track station at Long Biên and are top and tailed from Gia Lâm.
