MTR Corporation operate services on Hong Kong's; Express Rail Link, Airport Express, Metro, Suburban and Light Rail Lines.

MTR Corporation also operate the Hong Kong Express Rail Link, which is the 19 mile [26 km] underground section of the 142 km Guangzhou – Shenzhen – Hong Kong Express Rail Link.

Railways in Hong Kong are part of the Transport Department. New Railway projects are the responsibility of the Highways Department.

Gauge

Tramway

Hong Kong Tramway runs on the north side of Hong Kong Island. It runs between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, with a branch circulating through Happy Valley and has a total length of 19 miles (30 km.).

The Tung Chung Line Extension Project; Construction of a 1.3 km westward extension from Tung Chung Station and building the new Tung Chung West Station commenced in May 2023. The project is targeted to be completed in 2029.
