Rail Operators

The only Amtrak services in New Mexico are long-distance trains: the Sunset Limited (New Orleans - Los Angeles), and the Southwest Chief (Chicago - Los Angeles).

New Mexico Rail Runner

Rio Metro operates public transport services in the Albuquerque area, including the Santa Fe - Albuquerque - Belen rail service, branded as "New Mexico Rail Runner Express" (NMRR).

Note that the following sections of the NMRR route are also used by other services:

  • Kewa - Isleta Pueblo: Amtrak (Southwest Chief)
  • Zia Road - Santa Fe: Sky Railway (tourist service)
